Local Work
In local areas, the members of the YEA undertake local projects to tackle local issues or raise awareness of issues that they are passionate about. Here’s some projects we have been involved in recently.
South (Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point and Rochford):
Organised local collections for local food banks and are currently working on a project to raise awareness of and reduce spiking.
West (Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford):
Created care packages and baskets of Christmas presents for the local hospitals and children’s wards.
Mid (Chelmsford, Maldon and Braintree):
Worked on a project around promoting green spaces and raising awareness of the importance of the local environment. They are actioning this by planting flowers and vegetables around youth centres.
North (Colchester and Tendring):
Arranged a reading competition to engage young people in reading and literacy called RAWR (Reading and Writing Review).
Other projects that the YEA have been involved in include working on a mental health workshop, supporting local charities and helped gather young people’s opinions around renovating a youth centre.
