Youth Development Day

The Young Essex Assembly are hosting the 2019 Youth Voice Development Day at Chelmsford City Racecourse on 13th November. We will be welcoming over 200 young people from across Essex.

This conference shows young people important life skills in an interactive way and gets them interested in democracy.

In previous years, activities included have been 'Money in your hands' where you decide, if you were in government, how much to spend on each of the given topics, which improves financial skills. Another example is writing a letter to your headteacher persuading them not to ban phones, which aims to improve persuasive writing skills.

Last year we also had a Question and Answer panel that consisted of Tyler May (Young Essex Assembly), Tracy Spear (Youth Service Commissioner) and Councillor Tony Ball, Hannah Kopel (senior mental health commissioner) and Matt Barnett.

Attendees to the conference are welcomed to express an interest in joining the Youth Essex Assembly.
